"The continuing world-wide increase in livestock production intensity combined with increased frequency of trade and movement of people represents a significant threat in terms of disease emergence and spread, particularly when considering that although more advanced surveillance technologies are available, animal health services worldwide are under pressure to reduce costs. RiskSur will provide a decision making framework that will allow the development of surveillance systems based on integrated assessment of possible surveillance configurations taking cost-effectiveness into account."
