RiskSur's project management team held their first regular bi-annual meeting in Madrid, this past March 19. The meeting was held adjoining the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and preventive Medicine, organised by RiskSur Consortium partner UCM at the Illustrious Official College of Physicians of Madrid [Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid].
Representatives from eight institution members of the consortium attended. Task leaders had the opportunity to provide updates regarding the various tasks that have already been completed or are currently being performed. Special attention was given to the following topics:
- mapping
- review of economic evaluation methods
- data collection protocols
- review of surveillance systems
The meeting also proved to be the perfect venue to discuss several different organizational and scientific issues related to the upcoming milestones and deadlines:
- case studies selection
- communication inside and outside the project
- public affairs strategy
Overall, it was agreed by all to have been a very productive meeting, important in clarifying some critical aspects and thereby setting the way towards successful RiskSur outcomes.
